Sand

When I make a sand painting I’m often thinking about the metaphors of each grain of sand. Each of the billions of grains representing a living organism and how that life makes up a whole living web of interconnected beings. Each color a vital individual spirit with a unique and often improvised path. Colors having dialogue, connection and in the larger sense creating something beautiful out of the conversation its having with other colors shapes and lines. There’s an important conversation going on right now which I hope leads to meaningful dialogue and change. I’m happy it’s happening out in the public eye, but also fear that forces will divide. You see whether we are conscious of it or not, we don’t live as free floating colors, where the dialogue is felt throughout. We live on a grid, in boxes, and boxes get stacked, higher and so ever higher, creating divides physically, mentally and psychologically. But we are strong and inspired, if we can see outside that boxed existence and reach out to connect to the multitude of colors to make vibrant connections and create together a multifaceted brilliant spectrum that embraces life because #lifematters and if we continue to live in the box…well the divide will become greater.

These ideas and thoughts are embedded in the art I make and have pursued passionately pretty much all my life. Each grain of sand represents life. Art is important as it gives us a reflection of what we are in the world.

If you feel as I do, i started this bit of fundraising a month ago, take a moment and contribute to allow me the opportunity to bring my work to a larger audience. This Kickstarter has just 16 hours left. But I will be painting the rest of my life, I appreciate whatever you can give, or even by sharing.

If you have enjoyed my work, please support it in any way that you can

Thank you,
